It took Jonathan more than two years to finish book one of the Suzuki method.  But he now moves through the Suzuki pedagogy much more quickly.  He is now done with Book 8 and is likely to spend the next few years working outside the Suzuki repetoire..

Because of the development of a very good "ear" for music through the Suzuki technique, Jonathan began playing melodies on the piano when he was almost five, so for his fifth birthday his parents bought him a small used console piano. This same ear training has allowed Jonathan to play jazz and to learn new tunes while on the band stand.
